What is Bubble Bobble?
Bubble Bobble is a classic video game that was first released in 1986. The game was incredibly popular and spawned many sequels over the years. Bubble Bobble was created by Japanese game developer Fukio Mitsuji, better known by his pseudonym “Fube.” Fube had previously worked on the arcade games Mr. Do! and New Rally-X, but it was Bubble Bobble that would make him a household name. The game was released by Taito in Japan on June 30, 1986, and would soon make its way to arcades in North America.
Bubble Bobble is a platform game in which players control one of two dragon brothers, Bub and Bob. The objective of the game is to clear each stage of enemies by trapping them in bubbles and popping them. The player can then defeat enemies by jumping on top of them or by using their bubble to trap an enemy and then popping it. Players can also earn bonus points by collecting items such as fruits and letters.
Bubble Bobble quickly became a hit, thanks in large part to its simple yet addictive gameplay. The game was also notable for its use of cooperative multiplayer, as two players could team up to clear stages together. Over the years, Bubble Bobble would be ported to numerous home consoles and computers and would spawn numerous sequels and spin-offs. It remains a beloved classic to this day.
